Years of research and testing came to fruition for Hess Brothers’ Fruit Company in the form of a new variety of apple: Sweet Cheeks. For Hess, releasing a new variety of apple was not only ambitious, it was an endeavor to reach a specific market and to market a hugely competitive product. Burgard Design was tasked with appealing not just to moms but making the product attractive to retailers already inundated with choices. Sweet Cheeks’ minimal design and hand-rendered imagery stands out—and stands above—both managed and traditional varieties of apples.
